Winter to Spring Transitional Lip Shades

Hey guys!

With the cold snap right now it’s hard to imagine we are transitioning into spring but once I see daffodils, I can’t help wearing brighter cloths and lighter lipstick.

I won’t be going straight for the pale pinks and light nudes but I use some gorgeous transitional shades that range from dark winter hues to light spring pinks.

Most of the lipsticks are wear are matte liquid lipsticks because I love the formula and they are long-lasting but I have some new additions to my favourite transitional shades as well!

L’OrĂ©al ‘I Explore’ Rouge Signature Matte Liquid Lipstick

I love the applicator for this lipstick so much. It’s big enough to glide over your lip easily and the pointed tip allows for precision as well.

The formula is light so I would recommend two coats of this but if you exfoliate and moisturise your lips before application, it will last for hours after blotting as well!

‘I Explore’ is a gorgeous medium nude shade perfect for transitioning from darker nudes to lighter nudes over the next few weeks.

You can never go wrong with a good nude!
The packaging is also a huge plus for me, it’s sleek and matte. I just love the look and feel of it!

‘I Explore’ is available from Boots for €13.99 and is currently in their 3 for 2 offer!

Sleek ‘Vamp’ True Colour Lipstick

Vamp is not your classic transitional shade as it is a deep berry colour but I feel like you have to have at least one berry shade left in your collection for the frosty weeks between January and February.

Vamp is not my favourite formula because it can be quite drying, especially if your lips show any sign of dryness before application but I am a sucker for maroon and berry shades, this lipstick is my kryptonite!

It is by no means transfer proof so be aware of that when using it but if you blot your lips after application, any transfer should be minimal and your look will last a few hours.
A good berry shade is perfect for beige or plain outfits if you need a pop of colour to complete the look!

Vamp is available from Boots for €6.49 and is currently in their buy one get one half price offer!

Colourpop ‘Times Sqaure’ Ultra Matte Lip

I am a sucker for all things Colourpop! The brand is fantastic and the price point of the products for the quality you are getting is just amazing!

The pigmentation of all of their Ultra Matte Lips is great and this is my second tube of Times Square. The first was a mini from a set but it went so quickly that I had to buy another one when I was in New York!

Times Square is a fabulous transition shade because it is a gorgeous nude with pink undertones! It is one of my favourite neutral shades and you can pretty much wear it with everything which is fabulous.

Times Square is available on Colourpop for $7.

Maybelline 'Stay Exceptional' Superstay Matte Ink Crayon Lipstick

I have a lot to say about this lipstick because I love it.

First off, the product concept is fantastic. I usually go for liquid lipsticks but this lip crayon is really good! It comes sharpened which is so handy for precise application but the base of the crayon is also a sharpener so you can use it on the go as well!

Stay Exceptional is a lovely rosy pink this is a perfect everyday shade and I am close to buying a second one at this point.

The formula is creamy but dries matte and let me tell you, it lasts! I wore this for my birthday night out. Plenty of drinks were had, as well as the customary chicken nuggets on the way home. When I got home I was taking off my makeup and my lipstick was still perfect!

The lasting power of the Superstay Matte Ink Crayons is something I rarely come across and I am so happy that it works for me. The formula is also quite thin but the pigmentation does not suffer as a result. I would 100% chose this over a cream lipstick any day.

If you are looking for a new matte lipstick, look no further! The Superstay range from Maybelline is all you need.

Even better, the range is currently on offer in Boots, retailing for €14.99 each, they are currently on offer. You can get two for €16 in Boots at the moment!

Colourpop 'Fresh Cut' Ultra Matte Lip

So Fresh Cut has actually been discontinued by Colourpop which is quite sad because it is a lovely warm toned medium-dark pink lipstick perfect for spring!

Like Times Square, the formula is creamy and the pigmentation is great.

Relay Race is similar shade and is available on Colourpop for $7.

I swatched all of the lipsticks on my arm so you can really see what the shades are like! Each lipstick has been swatched once.

Brand Spotlight: NYX Cosmetics

Hey guys!

I cannot believe it's been three weeks since I've had the time to sit down and properly write a blog post! My life right now is literally, work, sleep, eat and repeat. I had my first sleep-in in about ten days and it was heavenly!

During my absence however, I was trying out loads of new products as well as finding myself reaching for old favourites as well. Surprisingly, a lot of these products were NYX Cosmetics!

NYX is such a fabulous, budget-friendly brand and one that has been in my makeup bag for years.

The first NYX product I ever bought was there soft matte lip cream in Copenhagen,
a perfect deep plum shade that I love. To get the berry shade I like and a full coverage look, it does require a few layers which takes time to dry. Other than that, I do love the formula, even if it fades after a few hours, as most liquid lips do.

I got sent a couple new shades from the collection a few weeks ago and they're so nice. One of the shades I got was Tokyo, a light pink that is perfect for spring and summer! One coat will give you sheer coverage while two with give you a gorgeous full coverage lip!

Cannes, another soft matte lip cream is more on the nude side, the perfect mauve nude for all year round, in my opinion! Just like Tokyo, you'll need two coats to gain a full coverage look with this shade!

Their Strobe of Genius highlight kit has been a firm favourite of mine for months and I love using the kit on my eyes as well as my highlight. The palette has seven different shades, so there's a shade to suit everyone, the purple one is my favourite!

NYX's  glitter glue is fabulous as well, I use it all the time as it keeps loose glitter on my lids the whole night and it is perfect for festival glitter as it's safe to use on the cheeks as well! You'll need a strong makeup remove to take the glitter off at the end of the night though because it's made to keep the glitter in place and that's exactly what it does!

I go between primers and from time to time I use their pore filler as my primer, which I love! I have some large pores on my face and this filler reduces their appearance. The only complaint about NYX's Pore Filler has nothing to do with the formula as it makes my skin feel so smooth when I have it on, however, the one I have was half empty when I first opened it, even though the seal was still on! I had to squeeze the life out of it just to get some product out!

Another product I recently got my hands on was the
Pro Foundation Mixer in Luminous, a pink undertoned foundation mixer that lightens any foundation you mix it with. Although the scent isn't the most pleasant, it does wonders in lightening my foundation to a shade that perfectly matches my skin!

NYX products are available nationwide in Arnotts, Boots and selected pharmacies.

Have you ever tried NYX products?
What are your favourite ones?

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lips

Hey guys!

With exams coming up, it's hard to find time to blog as well as keep on top of everything else!
Exams will be over June 20th so between now and then, I don't know how often I will be posting at all!

Anyway, as you guys know, I am obsessed with Coloupop! They're an American company based online and unfortunately they don't ship to Ireland at the moment. I had to get these delivered to family in America so I could get my hands on them!

(L-R: Last Dance, Glitter, Be Merry, Bianca, Times Square - on top.)

I ordered these back in November and Colourpop has changed their stock since. Bianca is the only liquid lipstick still available on the site.

Last Dance is a really deep red that I can't see myself wearing but I'm sure my sister will love it!

Glitter makes me so happy it's right up my street! I love purples and can definitely see me wearing this throughout the summer.

Be Merry is a coral shade that is just perfect for the summer season! Unfortunately Colourpop don't stock it anymore but they have a fabulous selection of oranges and corals!

Bianca (still available on the site) is a gorgeous mauve shade that looks grey in some light. It is just stunning and the perfect lipstick to go with you on any night out!

Times Square has to be my favourite out of all the ones I got! This dries into a stunning dark nude and it will go with any eye look!

Colourpop is quickly becoming one of my favourite makeup brands because they are just fantastic! The Ultra Matte Lips literally do not move off your lips which is amazing and the eyeshadows make me so happy.

Ultra Matte Lips retail for $6 on the site and are well worth it!

Have you ever tried these before?
What did you think?
